It began simply ---

A work day was called in March 2010 to
take down the drop ceiling inthe church basement
to facilitate some badly needed rewiring.
By the time summer came, the ceiling
was
gone, along with the walls, the stairs, the kitchen, the bathroom, and
the furnace!
To many it was a total surprise.
But, to be honest, we all knew the old
(and
inefficient) furnace was on its last legs.
You actually had to step up to get into the
very small bathroom. The stairs down from
the sanctuary were narrow and, like the bathroom, couldn’t be adapted
for handicap access.

And the kitchen? Well, it too was small, and outdated is probably too kind a description.
